One of the largest islands in the Mediterranean, Sardinia captivates with its dreamiest beaches, emerald waters, incredible coves and for the cluster of small isles that surrounds it, a paradise for sailors and water sports lovers. But it’s not just about the coast; Sardinia offers wild mountains to climb, historical sites to explore and vibrant towns with local traditions, colourful festivals and bustling nightlife.

Located west of mainland Italy, Sardinia offers over 1,800km of unspoilt coastline with beautiful beaches, turquoise sea and fascinating rock formations. From near-alpine forests to white sandy beaches, passing through 7,000 nuraghi – Bronze Age settlements - scattered throughout the island, the region offers unique scenarios perfectly complemented by a hearty culinary scene and an interesting wine production.

The fashionable Costa Smeralda is probably Sardinia’s most famous corner, extending from San Teodoro to the south, all the way to Santa Teresa di Galura and the spectacular Maddalena archipelago. The historic village of San Teodoro offers a large variety of natural environments, from large wetlands near its sandy beaches, to a great lagoon rich in flora and fauna, but also vast mountainous regions such as the picturesque Monte Nieddu. Nearby is the protected area of Capo Coda Cavallo, with white sandy beaches and incredibly crystal-clear waters perfect for diving enthusiasts.

At the heart of Costa Smeralda is Porto Cervo, a paradise for the jet set. Its famous piazzetta is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants, the perfect spot to lounge in style. The traditional evening stroll along the quay is also a must, with fashionable designer boutiques on one side, and luxury yachts on the other.

Many fantastic bays and beaches are scattered around the area, some well signposted, others hidden down small, winding tracks. From Baja Sardinia to the Gulf of Cugnana and Cala di Volpe, all perfect for a wonderful day by the sea. Consisting of seven major islands, the Archipelago of La Maddalena - just off the coast from Baja Sardinia - is one of Sardinia’s UNESCO World heritages. There are approximately 300 white-sand beaches, the waters are incredibly clear and full of snorkelling enthusiasts in search of the unspoilt seabed of the Mediterranean.
